Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
PastCents is an educational price-guessing game. This policy explains the information used to run the game and optional account features.
Information we process
- Gameplay information: guesses, scores, progress, and the daily puzzles you have played.
- Anonymous session information: a random session token stored in a secure cookie. PastCents stores only a one-way hash of that token.
- Account information: if you choose to sign in, Clerk provides a stable account identifier and basic profile information needed for authentication. Google sign-in requests only your basic identity, email address, and profile.
- Technical information: Cloudflare may process standard request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service. PastCents uses an IP address only to rate-limit the creation of anonymous sessions and does not use it as a player identity.
How information is used
Information is used to operate the game, preserve progress, calculate scores, link progress to an account when requested, prevent abuse, and maintain security and reliability. PastCents does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Service providers
PastCents uses Cloudflare for hosting, database storage, security, and delivery; Clerk for authentication; and Google as an optional sign-in provider. Those providers process information under their own privacy terms.
Retention and choices
Anonymous session cookies may last up to one year. Gameplay and account-link records are retained while needed to provide the service and maintain game integrity. You may play without creating an account. Signing out starts a separate anonymous profile on that browser rather than exposing account data.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the support contact displayed in the PastCents sign-in flow. PastCents may update this policy as the service changes; the effective date above will be updated when that happens.
